ByWard Market ~ Ottawa
by Judi “Scoop” McWilliams
One of Gary’s and my favourite places to visit is the ByWard Market in Ottawa.
The ByWard Market is close to both the Parliament Buildings and the downtown area.
When we visit the ByWard Market, we normally try to stay close to the Market area at the ByWard Blue Inn.
This is a unique boutique Inn that serves “afternoon tea” in the “common area“.
The room are comfortably appointed and many rooms overlook Ottawa’s skyscape.
The ByWard Market is made up of “funky” shops and “interesting” restaurants.
We enjoy walking Market streets watching the people in the “open air” restaurants.
Summer afternoons are best for “people watching“.
After walking the area, we find a restaurant to have lunch in. There are so many different kinds to choose from!
Once we have finished our lunch, it’s off to the Market itself.
The Market expands for several blocks and offers visitors a variety of shops and unique products.
Like most Markets of its type, its main focus is one “fresh” produce.
In warmer weather, store fronts open their doors and windows, inviting shoppers to come in and look!
I know that I did!
SO MANY SHOPS… TOO LITTLE TIME!
Oh well, there is always “another” day! Off to supper!
